Q&A/ Info

Where is your studio located?

All colour analysis sessions are currently based out of my second floor home studio in Barrhaven (Ottawa), Ontario. I do have two small non-shedding dogs that will be safely contained in a completely separate area for the entirety of the service. There is a free parking spot in my driveway and free street parking available as well.

How long is a typical colour analysis with you?

My full colour analysis service is 60-90 minutes long. This is dependent on many factors including difficulty of analysis (ex: if certain colours are a close call at a certain step), and if the client has any additional questions or concerns throughout the process. Also, clients are welcome to bring along any makeup or clothing items they wish to compare once we have discovered your colour palette (if timing allows). I am also always available via email to answer questions following the analysis.

Who can/should get a colour analysis?

Absolutely any person can benefit from a colour analysis if you wish to know the colours that best harmonize with your natural features. The system I was trained in utilizes certain colour analysis “checks” based on a persons natural colouring (skintone, hair colour, eyes) post-puberty. As such, I can analyze individuals under the age of 18, however this result may not be accurate in the future. Therefore, an updated analysis may be needed later on to ensure accuracy. I require any individuals under the age of 18 years old to be accompanied by an adult (18+) for the duration of the appointment. Please note my studio is small and can currently only accommodate a maximum of 2 guests at this time.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

If possible, please provide me with some photos for me to review such as: photo(s) in colour of yourself from childhood, and of yourself post-puberty (approximately age 18+), ideally with your natural hair colour showing. If you do not have photos of your natural hair colour at this age, I will ask that you are able to describe it to the best of your ability. Also, please come to your session make-up free (if you forget, I will provide hypoallergenic makeup remover at the session). Also, please do not have any sunless tanner or bronzer applied to the face, as this can potentially alter results (natural sun tan is completely fine and does not change a person’s undertone, value or intensity which is what is used to determine your palette).

Do you offer group (mini) sessions?

I am happy to offer group full &“mini” sessions upon request for a minimum of 3 people to a maximum of 6 people within an hour of Ottawa (travel fees will apply). Mini sessions are a great option for those that are not yet ready to commit to a full in-depth colour analysis service, or as something fun and new to do with your friends. This service can be a fun addition for guests during a party or event! Mini sessions include: determining your undertone, home season & best metallic. Please allot for up to 30 minutes per person. For full sessions, please allot for up to 60 minutes per person. For pricing and availability, please enquire with me directly via email: capitalcolouranalysis@gmail.com.

How will I know which colours are in my palette once I receive my result?

All clients are provided with a complimentary digital colour palette via the Colorology - Pocket Palette app at the end of their analysis. This digital palette includes hundreds of your best colours in your individual palette and shows each colour in different fabric textures. It also includes best hair colours, metallics and makeup colours.

Will my results change over time?

The short answer is no, your colour palette never changes. Intensity can shift slightly in some individuals as we age (increase or decrease slightly), but our undertone and dominant colouring characteristics never change.

Do you offer virtual colour analysis services?

I do not offer virtual colour analysis services at this time, as I am a newly trained analyst and I find that in-person draping shows the effects of different colours on the skin much more easily than virtual. I also find it makes it easier for the client to see the differences during the analysis as well! However, this may be an offering in the future so stay tuned for updates.
